Agricultural Building Blasting Ireland

Sheds, slatted houses, portal frames, grain bins and farm machinery blasted back to sound steel for recoating.

Farm steelwork corrodes faster than almost anything else we blast. Slurry, silage effluent, ammonia, washdown water and constant humidity attack galvanising and paint until the steel underneath starts losing section. Rayco blasts agricultural buildings and equipment throughout Ireland — portal frames, purlins, slatted house steel, gates and barriers, grain bins and dryers, feed equipment, cubicle housing, milking parlour steel and machinery — stripping corrosion, flaking paint and organic build-up back to sound steel so a proper protective coating can be applied. Farm work is planned around the calendar: sheds are usually blasted when they are empty, and we coordinate with your painter so the primer goes on before the steel flash rusts.

This service forms part of our nationwide Shotblasting Ireland work — see that page for the full process, standards and county coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you blast a shed with animals housed nearby?

We would normally ask for the section being worked on to be cleared and separated. Where that is not possible we contain the works area and agree the arrangement with you in advance.

Is the steel worth blasting or should it be replaced?

If corrosion is surface level, blasting and recoating is far cheaper than replacement. Where sections have lost significant thickness we will say so and recommend a structural opinion rather than coat over it.

What coating should follow?

Farm environments need a system designed for high humidity and chemical exposure. We prepare to the standard your coating supplier specifies and coordinate the timing so the primer goes on straight after blasting.
