Steel Sandblasting Ireland

Air-fed abrasive blasting of steel sections, plate and fabrications using non-silica media.

Steel sandblasting strips rust, mill scale and failed paint from steel using air-fed abrasive. Rayco uses recyclable non-silica media rather than silica sand, which is restricted on health grounds in Ireland, and works to the ISO 8501-1 grade named in your specification. Sections, plate, fabrications, tanks and structural frames can be blasted in a workshop or on your site with containment in place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is sandblasting steel still legal in Ireland?

Abrasive blasting is legal, but dry blasting with silica sand is effectively ruled out by exposure regulations. We use non-silica abrasives such as steel grit, garnet or slag media.

Sandblasting or shotblasting for steel?

Both give a clean, profiled surface. Shot and grit are recyclable and better suited to enclosed or repeat work; air-fed abrasive blasting suits awkward site geometry and one-off items.
