Residential Sandblasting Ireland

Sandblasting for houses, cottages and outbuildings — paint, cement render and weathering lifted from brick, stone and steel.

Homeowners come to us when paint is peeling off a stone or brick house, when a cement render has been applied over a wall that needed to breathe, or when railings, gates, farm gates and steel beams have corroded. Rayco blasts houses, cottages, garden walls, outbuildings, garages and domestic steelwork throughout Ireland using low-pressure and wet blasting with soft or graded media rather than aggressive steel grit, so paint and coatings come away without cutting into the face of the stone or brick. Domestic jobs are small, so we plan them properly: sheeting to protect windows, planting and neighbours, water and dust control, and a clean site at the end of each day. We will always tell you honestly if blasting is the wrong method for a particular wall.

This service forms part of our nationwide Sandblasting Ireland work — see that page for the full process, standards and county coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you sandblast a house?

Yes — brick, stone, render and concrete elevations can all be cleaned or stripped, provided the substrate is sound. We inspect first, test a small panel and confirm the method before proceeding.

Will it damage the mortar joints?

Old lime pointing is often already soft and can be lost during cleaning. That is normally a good thing, because repointing in lime afterwards is part of a proper restoration — but we flag it before we start so it is in the budget.

Do I need planning permission?

Cleaning a wall generally does not, but protected structures and buildings in Architectural Conservation Areas usually do. Check with your local authority before any work on a protected structure.

How long does a house take?

A typical two-storey elevation is a matter of days rather than weeks, depending on access, coating thickness and whether scaffolding is required.
